About the founder and his dojo

Geir V. HenriksenThe organisation was founded by shihan Geir V. Henriksen (b. 1953), 7. Dan. Henriksen was founder of Mizuchi karate team in 1977, and is still leader of this club. He founded Inoue-Ha Norway with help from the other members of the first board of Inoue-Ha Norway.

Mizuchi has more than 300 gold wins in junior and senior Norwegian National Championships since the club was started. The club has had competitors taking medals in both European (EKF) and World Championships (WKF), junior and senior. They have won gold or medals in many international competitions such as US Open, Dutch open, Italian open, Paris open, British open, Scandinavian open, Nordic Championships and others.

Henriksen has practised Tani-Ha Shito-Ryu since 1971. He was graded shodan in 1976, and was competitor in Norway National karate team from 1975-1983, kata and kumite. 5 times kata, and 5 times kumite champion of Norway.

He was the founders of what today is Tani-Ha Shito-Ryu Kofukan Norway, in 1978. He has been national coach for the Tani-Ha Shito-Ryu Norway national team since 1978, until he stepped down in July 2010.

In April 2010 his Kofukan Norway team took 17 golds in Kofukan International Championship, with Russia coming second with 6 golds. He was president of this organisation in Norway, when he in July 2010 decided to step down and leave them, to follow Soke Yoshimi Inoue for the future. Shihan Henriksen was graded 7. Dan Inoue-Ha Shito-Ryu Keishin-Kai in 2010.

He has been member of various national and international committees through the years, among them Kofukan International Executive Committee and European Karate Federation Technical Committee from 1995 - 2000. He has been coach for both kata and kumite Norway all style National team, and is still involved in Norway National kumite team.

He is also the first Norwegian to make a system for training and grading of Kurumaisu karate (wheelchair karate), in cooperation with Norwegian Martial Art Federation and The Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports (NIF).

He has been awarded honorary prices for his long time work for karate from the regional athletic federation in 2004, the local government in 2006, and Norway Martial Art Federation in 2006. Soke Yoshimi Inoue has been to teach in Mizuchi karate team's dojo outside of Norway's capital, Oslo.

Henriksen has also worked together with Lennart Larsson and Per Ola Olsson, both 7. Dan Inoue-Ha Shito-Ryu Keishin-Kai Sweden, in preparations for the foundation of Inoue Ha Norway.
